Becca McCracken
Director / Theatre Division
Becca’s career in casting began in 2005 here at Simon Casting. Her career has been a dream as she has fallen in love with the Chicago acting community and is happy to call this city her home. Working as the director for theater, Becca spends many nights scouting talent in the storefronts and across the main stages as she allows herself to be swept away by the powerhouse that is Chicago’s theatrical talent. Becca however also casts for the on-camera projects and gets especially excited to discover new faces, and provide exciting opportunities for the industry veterans. Some little known facts about Becca: She has partied with the Jackson family at Neverland Ranch, the Rolling Stones at the Drury Lane in London and is always searching for her next adventure, especially if an ocean is involved. She loves the Beatles and the Avett Brothers. Chocolate and wine. Her son, James and her puppy, Ruby. And of course her husband, Michael and all of you.
Casting Advice
Aside from the obvious tips that everyone should know (come prepared, bring your up-to-date headshot/resume, arrive on time, take classes) the best advice I can give you is to be grateful for your agent. They are your number one advocate (besides us!) and work very hard to get you in the door - even when you aren’t being seen and also to make sure that you are carving out time in your life to give outwardly. Volunteer, travel - do something that makes you come alive and then use those experiences to color your character choices in your auditions. Lastly, remember that we are on your side and are your biggest cheerleaders, so find ease in that and trust that the environment in the casting room is a supportive one. OH - and see lots of Chicago theater and all of the shows shooting in town!
